At Meyers & Flowers, we prioritize your family. As a law firm with a family-focused approach, we are committed to ensuring your peace of mind by keeping you informed of all baby-related recalls and warnings. Last month the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) issued a warning regarding the entrapment hazard associated with Baby Trend's Sit N' Stand strollers.
The CPSC and the manufacturer, Baby Trend, issued this warning after receiving reports of a 14-month-old’s death that occurred when the infant became entrapped between the stroller’s canopy tube and armrest. The warning specifically addresses the detachable front canopy on these strollers and the possibility of it becoming dislodged and pinning young children against the armrest or seat back.
It is important to note that neither the CPSC nor Baby Trend have issued a recall at this time, but they have urged consumers to stop using the strollers until they can obtain and install a repair kit that includes a replacement canopy attachment mechanism. Instructions on how to remove the detachable canopy for Sit N’ Stand Double or Ultra strollers with model numbers beginning in SS76 or SS66 are detailed in the product manual.
It is crucial that consumers take this warning seriously. This warning serves as a reminder that consumers should always follow the manufacturer's instructions and warnings when using any baby product, including strollers. Parents and caregivers should be vigilant when using any baby products and ensure that their children are properly secured and supervised at all times.
