Case Overview
The case centered around a right knee injury sustained by Chris Maragos during an NFL game on October 12, 2017, which ultimately led to the premature and unnecessary end of his professional football career. The injury, initially diagnosed as a torn posterior cruciate ligament (PCL), was mismanaged by renowned orthopedic surgeon Dr. James Bradley and national rehabilitation institute Rothman Orthopaedics.
Key evidence presented during the trial revealed:
- A failure to address a meniscus tear that compounded the damage to Maragos’ knee.
- The creation of two separate medical charts, one of which omitted critical information.
- The negligent advancement of Maragos’ rehabilitation, despite MRI evidence of a worsening condition, resulting in irreversible harm.
Meyers & Flowers attorneys Peter J. Flowers and Frank V. Cesarone, along with Dion G. Rassias and Jill Johnston of The Beasley Firm, successfully argued the case and secured the record-setting verdict.
