In the ever-evolving landscape of product safety, recent developments have brought the spotlight on a household name – Frigidaire. Known for its reputation in crafting reliable and innovative home appliances, the company now finds itself engulfed in serious product recall. Frigidaire has issued a recall on several models of refrigerators due to the risk of choking and laceration hazards to consumers.
About the Recall:
On February 8th, Electrolux Group issued a recall on more than 383,000 Frigidaire Branded Side by Side Refrigerators featuring Slim Ice Buckets following reports of plastic in the ice bucket. The affected refrigerators contain an ice bucket assembly component that can break resulting in plastic pieces entering the ice bucket, leading to the potential release of plastic fragments into the ice bucket, posing choking and laceration hazards to consumers.
According to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, Electrolux, Frigidaire’s parent company, received 343 reports of plastic breaking off into the ice buckets. There have been two reports of consumers being cut or hurt by the plastic after it was dispensed.
Consumers who own the refrigerators are being asked to immediately stop using the ice makers and contact Electrolux Group to request a replacement.
Affected Units and Date Range
The affected refrigerators were manufactured in Mexico and sold nationwide at stores like Lowe’s and Home Depot as well as online at Frigidaire.com between November 2015 and September 2019 for between $1,400 and $2,400.
The affected model numbers are: DGHK2355TF, DGHX2655TF, FFSC2323TS, FGSC2335TD, FGSC2335TF, FGSS2635TD, FGSS2635TE, FGSS2635TF, FGSS2635TP, FPSC2277RF, FPSC2278UF, FPSS2677RF, LFSC2324VF, LGHK2336TD, LGHK2336TF, LGHX2636TD, and LGHX2636TF.
Consumers can visit the Frigidaire website to see if their specific serial number is included in the recall. Consumers can find the model and serial numbers printed on a serial plate located inside the refrigerator compartment.
Recourse for Injured Consumers:
If you or a loved one has suffered serious injuries due to the faulty Frigidaire slim ice buckets or any defective products, you may be entitled to legal recourse. Manufacturers have a duty to ensure the safety of their products, and when they fall short, legal action becomes a crucial avenue for seeking justice.
