Empower Brands recently announced a recall of about 319,000 PowerXL air fryers following dozens of reports of the products breaking during use and, in some instances, causing burns. According to the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission, the plastic connector that can be used to combine two food baskets inside of the units can break during use and as a result, pose a burn hazard.
Details About the Recalled Product
On Dec. 14, Empower Brands recalled two models of the PowerXL dual-basket air fryer sold at popular retail stores such as Walmart, Target, and Kohl's. The models were sold in black or cinnamon colors from August 2021 through October 2023 and cost between $60 and $190, depending on the model.
Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled dual-basket air fryers, and contact Empower Brands to receive a full refund.
The recall affects PowerXL air fryers with the following model numbers:
- DUAF-10 Vortex Dual-Basket Air Fryer
- DUAF-005 Vortex Dual-Basket Air Fryer
