Elizabeth S. Holder, Of Counsel

Betsy Holder is a multi-generational native of Champaign, Illinois, with deep roots in the community. After graduating from Central High School in 1999, Betsy earned her undergraduate degree from Dartmouth College in 2003, followed by a J.D. from Vermont Law School in 2006.

During her education, Betsy gained invaluable experience interning with prestigious organizations like Davis Polk & Wardwell and Merrill Lynch. In law school, she was awarded a fellowship to work with a pro bono domestic violence law firm, where she helped establish a legal advocacy network for survivors on the White Earth Native American Reservation.

Betsy founded The Holder Law Group, LLP after spending over a decade practicing personal injury law. She began her legal career as an associate attorney with Phebus & Koester, LLP, and later served as the head of personal injury litigation for Steigmann Law, PC as a contract attorney.

Betsy’s practice is dedicated to helping clients injured in car, motor vehicle, and trucking accidents. She prioritizes maximizing compensation for her clients and has extensive experience handling complex cases involving whiplash injuries and spinal injuries, particularly in the thoracic and lumbar regions.

In addition to personal injury law, Betsy also focuses on medical malpractice cases. She has a special interest in obstetrics and gynecological malpractice and secured her first seven-figure recovery in a case involving the failure to diagnose a gynecological cancer. Her success extends to other areas of medical negligence, with notable recoveries in:

  • Stillbirth cases
  • Failure to diagnose infections and strokes
  • Premature infant death due to diagnostic errors
  • Pacemaker negligence
  • Negligent surgical procedures
  • Hospital negligence resulting in patient falls

Betsy lives in Champaign with her husband, Ryan, and their four children. A passionate advocate for education and community development, she has served on the Champaign Unit 4 School Board since 2023.
